Intern JOB DESCRIPTION
What all does an internSHIP entail?
• Know Jesus and want to share Him and His love
• Able to carry on a conversation in Spanish and assist with translation
• Lead Bible studies for the young men and women
• Help plan and implement Vacation Bible School, community outreaches, and “Family Fun” recreation days
• Spend time discipling and mentoring teens (high school-age Bible study and life-skills) in our neighborhood
• Help with construction projects
• Work with the women’s work center micro-business
• Assist with preparing for and helping with mission teams under the direction of SHIP leadership, and be willing to help in all areas
• Help with tutoring at the after-school learning center

• This internship is an unpaid position but the program cost covers the cost of all meals, lodging, and excursions in El Salvador and also includes airfare and travel insurance
• About 4 or so excursions to other parts of El Salvador are included in the internship in addition to 4 trips to the beach! I personally climbed the volcano named El Boqueron, visited a natural water park called Los Chorros, and visited a coffee plantation! We also took the kindergarten and first graders to the San Salvador Children’s Museum.
• Not only will you know that your work is helping bring this community to Jesus, your life will also be transformed!

Requirements/Qualifications
- Must have one year of college completed and a firm grasp of the Spanish language (you do not have to be completely fluent)
- Must have valid passport
- Must be willing to travel and live in El Salvador for 8 weeks
- Must agree with SHIP's Statements of Faith

While in El Salvador, my team completed the following:
-planned and implemented three weddings
-planned and implemented a community quincenera
-planned and implemented 4 weeks of Vacation Bible School
-planned and led 8 weeks of teen and mother Bible Studies
-planned and implemented 4 community outreaches
-planned and implemented 4 "Family Fun" recreation days
-planned and implemented a trip to an elementary/middle school to play games & share the Gospel
-completely transformed an old orphanage into a new elementary school
-added a roof to the new school
-re-did electrical wiring and plumbing in the new school
-expanded the sponsorSHIP program that sends children to safe schools
-constructed a playground where the kids can safely play
-constructed a covered bus stop at the end of the street where community members can sit/stay dry
-constructed 3 new tutoring rooms
-constructed a new library where kids can learn to read
-constructed a new SHIP Shop where women can buy products to sell at the market
-constructed a new sewing room where women can now make bags to sell for a profit
